DDW | Strijp

On sunday I’ve visited the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven with a fabulous bloggerstour organised by Willemijn de Wit (You are Here) and Ulrike Jurklies (MoManTai). The highlight of that tour was meeting Carole Baijings. Scholten&Baijings were the ones who opened my eyes to the unlimited inspiration that colours and design can give. I was so blessed to be able to tell her this. Yesterday T. and I went together for a few hour visit to DDW. I was dizzy with all the coolness (the same story every year) and I am so happy I get the chance to go tomorrow too to be part of the DDW-bloggerscafé, organised by Lonneke Bubblemint. I will be blogging in Coffeelovers as a part of the Zilverblauw-team. Will I see you there around 14.00u?

As for my DDW-coverage, I tried to kill my darlings but I’ve seen só many things that touched me. This is my selection of the locations I visited at Strijp. The first three pictures I took at Strijp T. The first picture is of an installation by OSΔOOS, the second I took at V3RS and the third work of art is called Framed Frame by Joost van Bleijswijk.

In the Yksi store and exhibition room in Strijp S you can see these amazing lamps by Alex de Witte. The Klokgebouw is packed with inspiration too, my favourite is Design in full Colour curated by Scholten&Baijings. They truly work magic with colour and shapes.

The fifth picture is from a Light Forest lamp taken at the amazing Ontwerpduo exhibition at Strijp R (area Piet Hein Eek). The last pictures are all taken at Piet Hein Eek. The last two are from exhibition HeRe it is: lamp Skin by Studio Pepe Heykoop and the booth of De Luchtpost.

Zondag bezocht ik de Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven met de geweldige bloggerstour georganiseerd door Willemijn de Wit (You are Here) en Ulrike Jurklies (MoManTai). Het hoogtepunt van die tour was absoluut dat ik Carole Baijings ontmoette. Scholten&Baijings waren diegenen die mijn ogen openden voor de grenzenloze mogelijkheden die kleuren en design kunnen geven. Ik voelde me bevoorrecht dat ik haar dit kon vertellen. Gisteren zijn T. en ik een paar uur samen naar DDW geweest. Ik werd duizelig van de gaafheid (elk jaar hetzelfde verhaal) en ik ben erg blij dat ik morgen de kans krijg om onderdeel te zijn van het DDW-bloggerscafé, georganiseerd door Lonneke Bubblemint. Ik blog in Coffeelovers en maak onderdeel uit van het Zilverblauw-team. Zie ik je daar rond 14.00u?

Wat betreft mijn DDW-verslag van vandaag, heb ik heel erg mijn best gedaan om mijn darlings te killen maar ik heb zoveel dingen gezien die me raakten. Dit is de selectie die ik maakte van de locaties die ik bezocht op Strijp. De eerste drie foto’s maakte ik op Strijp T. De eerste foto is een installatie van OSΔOOS, de tweede maakte ik bij V3RS en het derde kunstwerk is Framed Frame van Joost van Bleijswijk.

In de Yksi winkel en expo op Strijp S kun je de fantastische lampen zien van Alex de Witte. Het Klokgebouw is ook volgepakt met inspiratie, waarvan mijn favoriet Design in full Colour is, gecureerd door Scholten&Baijings. Zij weten iets magisch te bereiken met kleuren en vormen.

De vijfde foto is van een Light Forest lamp genomen in de erg mooie Ontwerpduo expositie op Strijp R (area Piet Hein Eek). De laatste foto’s zijn allemaal genomen bij Piet Hein Eek. De laatste twee zijn van expositie HieR is het: lamp Skin van Studio Pepe Heykoop en de stand van De Luchtpost.

Woonbeurs II

The most exciting booth for me, was that of Dutch designer Lex Pott. I’ve seen his work numerous of times at places like the DDW (for pictures from last year check this post) and I am a big fan. At this year’s Woonbeurs he showed a lot of cool new products he made for Hay, one of my favourite brands. The mirrors (check Marlous’ blog for another mirror-picture of the two of us), the marble hooks, the shelves: everything was spot on, yet again. I was in awe.

The fourth picture I made at the booth of 101Woonideeën and shows an abundance of very cool Menu candle holders. The fifth one is the CMYK lamp sold by StudiodeWinkel. The last pictures are from the very inspiring house of EigenHuis&Interieur and MorethanClassic.

De meest indrukwekkende stand vond ik die van Nederlands designer Lex Pott. Ik zag zijn werk al op verschillende plekken, zoals tijdens de DDW (voor foto’s van afgelopen jaar check deze post) en ik ben groot fan. Op deze editie van de Woonbeurs liet hij een aantal erg gave nieuwe producten zien die hij maakte voor een van mijn favoriete merken Hay. De spiegels (zie bij Marlous nog een spiegel-foto van ons twee), de marmeren haakjes, de wandplankjes: alles was -alweer- in de roos. Ik was onder de indruk.

De vierde foto met een enorm aantal geweldige Menu kandelaars maakte ik in het huis van 101Woonideeën De vijfde is de CMYK lamp die wordt verkocht door StudiodeWinkel. De laatste foto’s zijn van het erg inspirerende huis ingericht door EigenHuis&Interieur en MorethanClassic.

Woonbeurs I

Today I am blogging at the Woonbeurs with a lot of other cool bloggers, like Zilverblauw, Planet Fur, Femkeido, Interiorater, Beeldsteil, Yvestown, Binti Home, Vosges Paris, Urban Moms, Elv’s, Accessorize your Home, Bureau Knipoog, Suus Loves and House of C, hosted by the amazing Kirsten. What a treat!!

The first and third picture I made at the fantastic 101Woonideeën house. The lamps are from Pepe Heykoop, the swallows are from StudiodeWinkel and the last picture I took in the Ariadne at Home house.

Sweden III/design

One of the things I love about Scandinavia is that you are surrounded by pretty things almost everywhere.

In the first two pictures you see furniture made by designer Bruno Mathsson at the Bruno Mathsson Center in Värnamo. The middle pictures are made in the holiday home where we stayed our second holiday-week at the island of Bolmsö (the first week we stayed in the same cottage we stayed in last year). The last couple of pictures are of the exhibition of artists in residence Kontor Kontur at the Vandalorum Center for Art and Design in Värnamo.

Design in Sweden | Enigheid

Een van de dingen waar ik enorm van houd in Scandinavië is het feit dat je bijna overal wordt omringd door mooie dingen.

In de eerste twee foto’s zie je meubels gemaakt door designer Bruno Mathsson in het Bruno Mathsson Center in Värnamo. De middelste foto’s zijn van het vakantiehuisje waar we verbleven tijdens onze tweede vakantie-week op het eiland Bolmsö (in de eerste week zaten we in hetzelfde huisje als vorig jaar). De laatste foto’s zijn van de tentoonstelling van artists in residence Kontor Kontur in het Vandalorum Centrum voor Kunst en Design in Värnamo.

Sarracenia

In Dutch this plant is called the trumpetcupplant. Isn’t that a fabulous name? I love the shape and colour of the sarracenia, I think it is so cool when the sun shines through the leaves, especially when you see flies stuck in it. I may be a bit of a sadist, but I think it’s very interesting to see how nature can work.

I put the sarracenia in a fruit strainer, I found at a flea market a few months ago. It is made by Jeanine Keizer and produced by Cor Unum. The candle holder is designed by Scholten & Baijings and produced by 1616 / Arita Japan and the grey kaleido plate is by Hay. The rest are thrift finds.

In het Nederlands heet deze plant de trompetbekerplant. Wat een fantastische naam he? Ik hou van de vorm en kleuren van de sarracenia, ik vind het zo coll als de zon door de bladeren schijnt, vooral als je dan ziet dat er een vliegje in de plant vast zit. Ik ben wel een beetje een sadist, maar vind het vooral zo ingenieus hoe de natuur soms werkt.

Ik zette de plant in een fruittest, die ik een paar maanden geleden op een rommelmarkt vond. Hij is ontworpen door Jeanine Keizer en geproduceerd door Cor Unum. De kandelaar is ontworpen door Scholten & Baijings en geproduceerd door 1616 / Arita Japan en het grijze kaleido schaaltje is van Hay. De rest zijn kringloopvondsten.

Sweet vases

One can never have too much vases, at least I keep saying that to myself when I see another gorgeous one online or at a thrift store. I am a bit of a vase-hoarder, but I just love them, even without flowers.

The white one is the Closely separated vase from Muuto and it was a birthday-gift from my T. The green one is the Thixotrophy vase by Carola Zee and I bought it (on sale!) as a present for myself at Make Room. And the little pink cup is by Lenneke Wispelwey and was a present from sweet Marlous.

Vazen heb je nooit genoeg, of althans dat blijf ik tegen mezelf zeggen als ik weer een prachtig exemplaar tegenkom online of in de kringloop. Ik ben een beetje een vazen-verzamelaar aan het worden, maar ik hou gewoon zo van ze, ook zonder bloemen.

De witte is de Closely separated vase van Muuto en ik kreeg hem als verjaardagscadeau van mijn T. Pretty cooking

When I was asked if I would want to do a review on webshop Leeff, I was easily convinced because they have some pretty cool products in store. I received these grey Bitossi Home-glasses and a ceramic oven dish also by Bitossi Home. I am not the world best cook, so I love it when my kitchen utensils look pretty, at least the appearance is in order then. 😉 I cooked some pasta that wasn’t bad at all and afterwards asked my T. whether it was easy to clean (yes, he did the dishes). He said: aren’t they all? I know better, so that’s another point for the oven dish.

The minty green Riess cooking pan is a vintage find from a few months ago, but Leeff also sells it in their shop. If you like pastel coloured pans, be sure to check the Pentola pans (pink! yellow! lavender!). I really loved them, but they don’t work on my induction stove, what a bummer.

Toen ik werd gevraagd voor een review voor webshop Leeff, was ik snel overtuigd want zij hebben een aantal erg gave producten in het assortiment. Ik kreeg deze grijze Bitossi Home-glazen en een keramische ovenschaal, ook van Bitossi Home. Ik ben geen fantastische kok, dus ik hou van mooie keukenspullen. Als de maaltijd er al goed uitziet, is dat tenminste al iets. 😉 Ik maakte een pasta-gerecht dat helemaal niet verkeerd uitviel en vroeg naderhand aan mijn T. of de schaal makkelijk schoon te maken was (ja, hij deed de afwas) en hij zei: zijn ze dat niet allemaal? Nee dus, een bonuspunt voor de schaal.

De mintgroene Riess pan vond ik een paar maanden geleden in de kringloop, maar Leeff verkoopt hem toevallig ook in hun shop. Als je van pastelkleurige pannen houdt moet je zeker even de Pentola pannen checken (roze! zachtgeel! lila!). Ik vind ze prachtig, maar ze werken niet op mijn inductiekookplaat, balen voor mij.

PHE

A few weeks ago, my T. and I went to Piet Hein Eek, for an inspirational walk through the store and expo’s (I thought the pieces of art by Gerd Rohling were very intriguing) and a nice piece of cake in the restaurant. It always lives up to our expectations.

Een paar weken geleden bezochten mijn T. en ik Piet Hein Eek, voor een inspirerende wandeling door de winkel en tentoonstellingen (ik vond de kunst van Gerd Rohling erg intrigerend) en een lekker stuk taart in het restaurant. Een bezoekje voldoet altijd aan onze verwachtingen.

Outspoken

I went to concept store Outspoken and art gallery Majke Hüsstege again. They keep amaze me. I especially loved the neon and chrome installation by René van Doorn, the minty green Bubblevase by Jorine Oosterhof, the glass vase and bowl by Rogier Martens and the pictures and photography by Jeroen Blok. Laatst bezocht ik concept store Outspoken en art gallery Majke Hüsstege weer eens. Ze blijven me verbazen. Ik was vooral onder de indruk van de installatie van neon en chroom van René van Doorn, de mintgroene Bubblevase van Jorine Oosterhof, de glazen vaas en schaal van Rogier Martens en de schilderijen en foto’s van Jeroen Blok. Notknot

The first time I saw this pillow, I was in love. And like the most items I love instantly, it turned out pretty expensive. It is the Notknot pillow by Umemi. It’s an enlarged classic knot (Turk’s head) made from Icelandic wool. After thinking about it for quite some months (maybe even years), I decided to just go ahead and buy it, when I saw it in the Dutch webshop Funnshus. Now all I need is a finished living room to show it off!

De eerste keer dat ik dit kussen zag, was ik verliefd. En zoals het werkt bij de meeste spullen die ik prachtig vind, bleek hij behoorlijk duur. Het is de Notknot van Umemi. Het is een vergrootte versie van een klassieke knoop (Turk’s head) gemaakt van IJslandse wol. Nadat ik er maanden (misschien wel jaren) over na had gedacht, besloot ik hem te kopen toen ik hem zag in de Nederlandse webshop Funnshus. Het enige dat ik nu nog nodig heb is een woonkamer om hem uit te stallen!
