Devil’s food

When I saw this cakemix in the grocery store, my mouth started watering. I love chocolate muffins, brownies and all that sort of wrong food and wanted to bake something easy. But you know what, it wasn’t all that good. We didn’t even finish it all. Do you have a good (and easy!) recipe for me to try?

Toen ik deze cakemix in de supermarkt zag, liep het water me in de mond. Ik hou heel erg van chocolade muffins, brownies en al dat slechte spul én ik wilde eens wat makkelijks bakken. Maar weet je, de cake was eigenlijk helemaal niet zo lekker. We hebben hem niet eens helemaal op. Heb jij een goed (en makkelijk!) recept voor me?

Weekend

One of the things I really didn’t regret in our renovation, is making room to put a bath tub in our bath room. For me, spending time in the tub, with a good book and a cup of tea, is heaven.

Een van de dingen waar ik echt geen spijt van heb, is dat we ruimte hebben gemaakt voor een bad in onze badkamer. Ik vind hangen in bad met een goed boek en een kop thee echt hemels.

Treasure hunting

I just love thrift stores, it feels like going on a treasure hunt. Because I know I am a hoarder I don’t immediately buy everything I like. The mint pan for example, I left it on the shelve. Stupid because I love how it fits in my kitchen.

The latest of my crushes is marble. I loved it as a kid, so I embraced this marble trend. My sweet sister knows about my collection and found me this pretty vase. I love how marble combines with practically everything.

Ik hou enorm van kringlopen, het voelt als schatzoeken. Omdat ik weet dat ik nogal een verzamelaar ben, koop ik niet meer meteen alles wat ik leuk vind. De mintgroene pan bijvoorbeeld. Ik liet hem op de plank staan. Stom, want hij blijkt prachtig in mijn keuken.

Mijn laatste crush is marmer. Ik hield er al van als kind, dus ik omarmde de marmertrend. Mijn zusje wist dat en vond een prachtige vaas voor me. Marmer combineert zo mooi, het past bijna overal bij.

Renovation update

The walls are plastered and are ready for some paint. The floor and doors still need some work before we can take up the paintbrush though. Besides that, the stovepipe is in it’s place so we can finally start a fire.

De wanden zijn gestuct en zijn klaar voor een verfbeurt. De vloer, deuren, kozijnen hebben nog wel wat werk nodig voordat we kunnen gaan schilderen. En de kachelpijp is aangesloten, dus we kunnen eindelijk een vuurtje stoken.

Last week

A recap of last week, in a few pictures. The living room is far from finished, but we are getting there. I love the dining room table in it’s future place. And I was thrilled to read the interview with Ellen Vesters in the latest issue of 101 Woonideeën.

The Hay Kaleido trays I bought in the sale at Design Lemonade, sometimes you need to spoil yourself. The pink vase is a Lenneke Wispelwey Pineapple Vase and the small white platter is an item from Maarten Baas‘ Haphazard Harmony collection, I bought it at the Noordbrabants Museum-shop.

Een samenvatting van afgelopen week, in een paar foto’s. De woonkamer is nog verre van af, maar we komen wel in de buurt. Ik vind het zo gaaf om de eettafel al op zijn plek te hebben staan. En het was zo gaaf om het interview met Ellen Vesters te lezen in de laatste 101 Woonideeën.

De Hay Kaleido trays kocht ik in de sale bij Design Lemonade, soms moet je jezelf verwennen. De roze vaas is een Lenneke Wispelwey Pineapple Vase en het kleine witte bordje komt uit de Haphazard Harmony collectie van Maarten Baas, ik kocht hem in de museumwinkel van het Noordbrabants Museum.

Jumping Rupert

I was on an involuntary blogbreak due to some software problems. But they seem to be solved and I am so glad to be able to blog again!

Putting away the Christmas decorations always leaves a void. Thank God for Jumping Rupert! This octopus is by Gommini and I found him a couple of months ago at &Klevering. I think he is hilarious.

Ik had een onvrijwillige blogbreak door stomme software problemen. Die lijken nu opgelost en ik ben zo blij dat ik weer gewoon kan bloggen!

Het opruimen van alle Kerstspullen laat altijd nogal een leegte achter. Maar gelukkig heb ik Jumping Rupert! Deze octopus is van Gommini vond ik een paar maanden geleden bij &Klevering. Ik vind hem geweldig grappig.

Countertop

A few weeks ago I showed you our kitchen. I think the design of the cabinets is so pretty, but the countertop is really a showstopper. I love the color we choose, it seems a bit transparent and that is why the color seems to change when the light differs.

The countertop is made by Martijn Gerrits. He used Corian to recreate the shape of the original countertop. I think it turned out really well. As you can also see on my Instagram-feed, I can’t stop taking pictures of it.

Een paar weken geleden liet ik jullie onze keuken zien. Ik vind het design van de kastjes prachtig, maar het keukenblad is echt het sluitstuk van het ontwerp. Ik ben zo blij met de kleur due we gekozen hebben, het is een klein beetje transparent en ik denk dat dat de reden is dat de kleur lijkt te veranderen met een verschillende lichtinval.

Het blad is gemaakt door Martijn Gerrits. Hij gebruikte Corian om de vorm van het originele blad na te maken. Ik vind dat het prachtig is uitgepakt. Zoals je ook kunt zien aan mijn Instagram-feed, blijf ik het fotograferen.

Christmas II

I’m still using my rack and diamond ornaments. I think they work really well together. Most of the ornaments are found at thrift stores or flea markets. The little deer in the fourth picture is by Planet Fur.

Ik gebruik mijn rek met diamanten hangers nog steeds. Ik vind het een goed team samen. De meeste kerstspullen vond ik in kringlopen en op rommelmarkten. Het kleine hert op de vierde foto is van Planet Fur.

Christmas I

Again, no Christmas tree in our house this year. But of course I’ve decorated the wall with some Christmas ornaments. The ‘ho ho ho’-poster, I made last year, you can find the Bla-poster here and the candle holders here. The rest of the items are thrift finds.

I want to thank you for al the great pictures you sent in for the Collégien give away. I am proud to present the winner: it is Daphne, with her very creative and funny picture. She is renovating her house too and I know how cold concrete floors can be. 😉 Congratulations!

Weer geen kerstboom in ons huis dit jaar. Maar natuurlijk versierde ik mijn muur wel met kerstspul. De ‘ho ho ho’-poster maakte ik vorig jaar, de Bla-poster vind je hier en de kandelaars hier. De rest van de spullen zijn kringloopvondsten.

Ik wil jullie allemaal bedanken voor de leuke foto’s die jullie hebben ingezonden voor de Collégien give away. Ik mag vandaag (met trots!) de winnaar bekendmaken: het is Daphne, met haar ontzettend creatieve en grappige foto. Ze zit middenin een grote verbouwing en ik weet hoe koud betonnen vloeren kunnen zijn. 😉 Gefeliciteerd!
